ABOUT MOULIN DE LA VERNÈDE

A manufacturing legacy in the Orbiel valley

The Moulin de la Vernède is located along the banks of the Orbiel, a valley famous in the 16th century for its exceptional cloth production.

This property was the final legacy of that industry, functioning until 1956, and gained international fame for its billiard cloth which graced the tables of casinos and of Russian czars alike.

The mill's rich history is still visible in the canal that runs beneath the house, which was once utilized to power its production activities.

A stone's throw from the citadel of Carcassonne

The villa is located 15 minutes from the stunning medieval fortress, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the 5 most visited monuments in France.

Known for its impressive walls and towers, the citadel features well-preserved structures like the Ducal Castle and the Saint-Nazaire Basilica.

A visit to explore the cobblestone streets that offer a glimpse into the medieval past will be a highlight of any holiday in the region.
